When you forget yourself in love…

There is a kind of love where you stop keeping score. You stop asking, “What am I getting in return?” You forgive more than you thought you could. You give more than you planned. And sometimes, you tolerate things you once believed you never would.

But Vedic wisdom offers a deeper understanding of surrender.

Love does not mean losing yourself.
Surrender does not mean abandoning your dharma. And devotion does not mean accepting everything without discernment.

The highest love is not the destruction of the self — it is the quieting of the ego.

You can love someone deeply and still know your worth. You can forgive without forgetting your boundaries.

You can let go of resentment without allowing yourself to be repeatedly wounded.

And sometimes, the greatest act of love is not holding on at any cost, but accepting what life is teaching you and allowing another soul to walk its own path.

Love may be limitless. But love should not require you to become less of yourself.

Perhaps true devotion is this:

“I love you without possessing you. I forgive you without losing myself. And I can let you go without believing that my love was a mistake.”

Because in the Vedic understanding,
the deepest love ultimately leads us back to the Self -not away from it.
